REPHELELE  PROJECT:

Ikatiseng Construction won an award of  excellence in construction nationally hosted by CIDB in 5-6 CEPE category for the Tosca Project mentioned below. The awards were presented by minister of Public Works, Mrs. Gwen Mahlanlgu – Nkabinde.

 

Ikatiseng Construction was one of the Women owned company that was identified to participate in the Rephelele program of developing women in Road Construction. Ten contractors were chosen to participate.
The project is an extended public works program (EPWP). I t is the first program in North West Province to do road construction using labour component of 80% and 20% machinery.

 The program was started in September 2009 by other contractors. Ikatiseng started only in April 2010 due to the remoteness of Tosca, 635km from Rustenburg.  Ikatiseng had challenges in sourcing material and machinery. Tosca has a high level of illiteracy and it was a challenge in training and developing people to take team leaders positions.

Faced with the above challenges, Ikatiseng performed to its best capabilities and it was chosen for a study pilot program. Ikatiseng was the second company to finish the program on time.
Ikatiseng is the first company to be featured in the News Bulletin of Department of Transport, Roads and Community Safety for EPWP Pilot Programme.

The recognition Ikatiseng received from the Department attest that Ikatiseng is practicing its motto to the best of its capabilities.

Ikatiseng also left a legacy in Tosca; our employees were given training for road construction and also HIV & AIDS. We had a harmonious working relation all the times. The program played a positive role in alleviation of poverty in the area.

WOMEN BUILT PROJECT:

Ikatiseng Construction C.C participated in the programme that was specifically for development of women which was spearheaded by The Department of Human Settlement in North West Province.

Due to challenges that were experienced in the starting of projects, Ikatiseng was the last company to start with physical construction of houses, but, we managed to complete the units in record time and received second position provincially in the category of Women Contractors.

It is through forward planning, dedication and team work that we managed to exemplify the motto of our company, “ A Hallmark of Excellence”
